Rebuilding the T-case
Well, I can't figure out what else my noise could be other than my transfer case...so I'm going to buy a rebuild kit. Does anyone have experience with this? I can get the minor rebuild kit or the major rebuild kit. The minor doesn't have the flange nuts or the needle bearings. Flange nuts I'm not worried about, but why would there be a major and minor kit? Do the needle bearings rarely need replacing, or what? It's close to $100 difference...$169 compared to $249, so it does make a difference. But it seems like there's no point rebuilding it unless I do it all, right? Unless somebody has an idea as to why I'd probably be fine with just the minor rebuild kit.
I checked some videos, and it seems to me that it's a pretty easy process. Anyone disagree? Probably the only specialty tools required are snap ring pliers and a "punch" or something to push little bar thingies into small holes (sorry, can't think of the name). It basically all looks really simple, just pulling out gears and shafts, sliding the old bearings off and the new ones on, and putting it all back together. Anyone have experience? I'm assuming I can do it pretty easily just watching the Trail Gear videos on installing crawler gears into the T-case.
Any advice on the major vs minor rebuild kit, and tips/tricks to the rebuild would really be appreciated! Thanks.

Thanks OC. I have an 83 FSM, so I don't need to deal with that TTORA crap
No, it's not crap, but it's not for our trucks, it's really for an 85. Shouldn't matter with the T-case though. Looking at the manual doesn't give me much confidence with stuff like this when it's my first time, but will be a great reference. The videos on TG's site show me that it's something I ought to be able to do.
I emailed TG, and they just said to tear it down and see what needs to be replaced. Great idea, and that's what I'm going to do...but since this in my DD and only vehicle, I was trying to avoid too much down time. Oh well.
