racing seats

well ive searched and found that most people end up swapping in buckets from newer models, other vehicles and etc.

What about racing seats though, ive heard apc arent that great of quality, but what other manufacturers are decent enough that i can get online. id like em to be black as well.

These are some of the best for truck seats IMO, just pricey for me:

Those seats are more for street vehicles. You should be looking at the Mastercrafts, PRP, Corbeau etc. Suspension seats are the way to go . Mastercraft makes a Prerunner style that doesn't have the real high sides so it's easier to get in and out of. Keep in mind, most these seats I mentioned require the purchase of harnesses and brackets to mount them. If your stuck on the ones you mentioned, check Craigslist, there's alot on there that people sell cheap.

One quick note about racing seats...if you do not have a roll cage, do not wear a 5 point harness! It can be more dangerous than a stock belt, if your vehicle does roll your bodies natural motion (and your natural instinct) is to lean down/over/sideways which gets you away from the roof when it is collapsing, if you're wearing 5 points you cannot do this, if the roof collapses, so does your skull.

As for experience/preference...i am building a desert truck right now (prerunner/race truck) and i am using Beard Ultra Pro's. I love them, i have been in a few other trucks that run these same seats for MANY hours down in Baja and i can tell you from first hand experience, they are awesome! Mine are +2" wider and have the high side bolsters, which would suck for daily driving, but they are also offered in a lower sided version. I run a 3" padded Crow 5 Point harness system, very good quality and i am very happy with them as well.

Here's one of my seats...

I like the first set, but the shipping costs are more than the seats are worth!

I have a corbeau seat (similar to the Beards) mounted on the drivers side only, the passenger still has the nice comfotrable stock seat (2nd gen?) to sit on. The corbeau seat is real nice, but the high sides do make it a pain in the ass to get in and out of the truck (there's only about 6 inches between the seat and the steering wheel), and it is kinda narrow but ok for me . I've been thinking about making a quick release for the wheel, but it's been like that for too many years and I've gotten used to it. I picked it up at the track about 10 years ago for $25, the webbing is getting a little tired, but it's still better than the stock seat.
