quick 22re question yotatechers

I have a 1985 celica w a blown engine. I found a 1992 22re from a 2wd p/u. Question is, before I buy this engine are there any differences besides the oil pan that I need to know about? Any help would be great Thanks.

Deck height is different on the later blocks...

Is the 85 a 22RE motor too or is it carb'd?

No, its definatley EFI. 83-84 was EFI, Analog (Celica) 1985 was digital (if that makes sense) Celicas never had 22r (Carb) they had 20r's pre 1982. This is what I read in the past, plz correct me if I'm wrong. I dunno, it gets confusing, especially when you name an engine 20r and it displaces 2.2L and you call a 22r when it displaces 2.4L? C'mon! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

85-95 22RE block and head are the same, maybe some difference in brackets, accessories, etc.

as far as I've been able to find. this is correct. meaning an '85 celica has the same motor as '85-'95 trucks. I'm buying an '85 celica to become an engine donor for my 4Runner.
