ok, i want to install a spotlight in my 85 p/u. does anyone else out there have one?

my dads got a few lying aroynd his barn from his old cop cars, would they fit? or is there only certain ones? and also, would it be ok to wire it into the fuse box under the kickpanel, or do i have to run a fuseable link to the battery

where did u get the light and do u have a write up?

 

nope never did a write up on it.
I got the light off one of our old ranch trucks. It was originally chrome and I used a reverse electrolosysis process to strip it off. I lightly sanded it and used an industrial enamel to paint it. I had to machine a spacer in order to get the slant the right way. This light was made for a ford with a steep window slant. If I installed it without the tapered spacer the light would point up toward the moon. The Toyota's window slants are not as steep. I used a giant and long drill bit with a pilot guide to make the hole.
Wiring was the easy part.
The light works perfectly!

 

That's sweet! You have a picture of it from a distance? It looks like a huge booger up close, I can't imagine it looks like that when the whole truck is in view

 

They look good but I don't like how the huge handle protrudes so far into the cab.

I have had one of the Go Lights (wired remote) for almost 20 years...it is great...remove it when not needed.

 

okay so i guess the answer is yes, any spolight will fit but may need minor modifications?

oh ok... i thought you meant spotting them for hunting purposes... poachers are a real problem around here... we shoot on site and ask questions later if somebody is pulling that crap.

but yes spotting them and just watching is fun

 

lol naa im harmless, i usualy go out like 2-3 in the am to grab a soda at the store 'fore i go to bed, at that time their all out, so when i see eyes in the feilds, ill spolight 'em and see what theyre up to...its cool to see 30+ deer just standing motionless staring at you, then after a while they just wiggle their tails and continue eating, neat animals, call me weird but theyre cool to watch!!
