I need new rotors. Warped the current set.
I'm running Tundra Brakes on my 3rd gen. I've been looking around at my options. Tirerack has several options. Ebay is loaded with options. Local parts stores have some. OEM is overpriced but maybe I'm wrong.
What do you suggest?
Thanks

get good rotors, now is not a time to skimp. it takes way too long to change the rotors to do it every time cheap rotors warp or wear out.

actually 3rd gen's are some of the easier ones to change rotors unbolt the caliper and the rotors just come off

True. A very easy brake job. Now my old 87 4x4 with manual hubs. That took some time.Originally Posted by Elton

But I agree. I want to run good parts.

Brembo rotors-maybe $10 more each than cheapos.
Not drilled not slotted- just plain old Brembo rotors have worked fine for me. Not running the Tundra rotors or calipers myself...
Brake warehouse. com or Auto Parts Warehouse has decent pricing but shop and compare...become a member and they email deals all the time.

Since I have a Tundra it has Tundra brakes on it, but the rotors are EBC slotted (not drilled, just slotted), they're lasting well and staying true....

I have a prostop set on my bmw look into them as well, not sure if they make a set for the yotas though. Have had mine on for about 6 months and absolutely no sign of rusting either. Mine are the drill/slotted ones. I agree though slotted/drilled probably not a good idea on an off-road rig. Pretty sure prostop makes normal rotors as well. I got mine off a prostop dealer on ebay. they shipped directly from prostop.

I'm suprised you warped a set of tundra rotors on your 3rd gen, you must be working them.
I'd recommend the Raybestos premium rotors, they're good quality and won't break the bank.

I have had to change the rotors plenty of times on my 2nd gen...I don't remember it being all that long, just some prying and banging. How did you warp them? A lot of downhill then through some water??

Well, they lasted 2 years. I thinks thats pretty good. I live in Los Angeles and commute in traffic. I also hit the mountain roads a lot.Originally Posted by okie81

I'm checking on the options mentioned. Lots of good suggestions. I do appreciate it.

Hey! Great suggestion on the autopartswarehouse. They have the standard EBC rotors for ~$130 w/ free delivery. I like the sound of that.Originally Posted by Ron Helmuth

I now have to settle on pads.

who is your buddy? you could toss me that SS 1.2 for some gratitude Taro...
messin' with ya dude
okay- for pads you can do worse than what my dealer called stock 'upgrade' pads. Toyota OEM that I believe became the standard pad for 01s and 02s. (Runners)
I have put the part number on here or T4R before...somewhere...

I decided to order the Akebono pads as well. So I bought the EBC rotors, pads for about $210 shipped. I'm satisfied with that and look forward to the install.
Thanks to all

Hey dude... Send Marlin a message... I just sent him one b/c I want him to machine down SA hubs and sell them as a brake upgrade kit.
If you machine down the crown and WMS surface of an existing SA hub, you can slap Tacoma rotors over it and have floating rotors... Not to mention an EASY Birfield-field repair.

Where does this come in for you? Well, SA guys bolt IFS hubs on to get a 3" wider track, and use Tacoma rotors, but have to bolt the caliper on the opposite side of the bosses...
So if IFS calipers work on SA trucks, SA hubs should work on IFS trucks:
