MSD 6A on 22RTE
#3
Sorry I was just referring to the diagram I have from MSD (not posted). I have the 8910eis. It doesnt explain what to do with the second wire on the pos. side of the coil. Hoping somebody can look at their rig tell me what they did.

Spideynut, I don't remember exactly cause I installed a 6A on my 22RE awhile ago but I believe the wires that originally went to your coil from the Igniter (Amplifier) will now go to the wires on the 8910-eis tach adapter. Negative to negative and positive to positive. I think I also connected the red wire from the 6A (that goes to the ignition switch) to the postive Igniter wire. So for example...The 8910-eis instructions say to connect the red wire together with the red ignition wire from the 6A box, then I connected that to the 2 wires connected to the same ring that originally went to the positive side of the coil. You treat that as one wire. The black wire from the 8910-eis then connects to the negative side coil wire coming off the igniter. Instead of splicing I used a small screw and nut to bolt the rings together, then wrapped in wire loom, not that this matters but this way is easier to return to a stock iginiton if you have to remove your MSD parts. Hope this helps, I'll be installing a new Digital 6A on my 22RE soon in the same way.

Thanks for the schematic. Wish I had this in the beginning, had to figure it out myself.
Make sure you have the proper coolant ratio (50/50) when using the MSD. I lost a couple of cylinder heads from electrolysis cause my coolant ratio was off. Yeah I'm from Mililani O'ahu but I live in Glendale AZ now. It's definitely not home.

I did the same thing. I have a Corola 22re schemadic that used the white wire from the MSD to trigger. I was hesitant because the 8910 had a white wire not a blk wire on the diagram. Well I did and it fired right up!! The magnetic connection would just make the truck rummble but not run. Like it wasnt getting enough fuel or spark..
I just got done gapping the plugs to .040 and advanced the snot out of the poor little motor
.
Runs like a bat out of hell
well for a 25yr old 4x4.....
