Looking for tips on painting the block

I have my block back from the machine shop and it is masked up to be painted.

My question for those of you who have painted their block, did you use a primer coat, if so what? Oh and what final did you use on the block? I picked up a can of 500 degree Plastik-Kote.

I just masked, lightly sanded to get dirt off and painted my 3.4L GM blue / chrome aluminium.

I hope you aren't going to paint over that triscuit timing cover, the folks at Nabisco are likely to pull their sponsorship.

It is a decision I have to weigh out. If I do, the Nilla Wafer people already have a timing cover they are eager for me to use.

High temp Ford Grey so I can spot oil leaks easier than a black block.
