SAS is not for everyone, customers have different reasons for doing it. I had one who was tired of replacing cv's, balljoints, tie rods, idler arms every six months. Others who think its the way all toyotas should be. But as fo wheeling its not the economical idea by any means

if you have a lot of money, build up your ifs rig, wheel it until you think you need SAS, then SAS and part out the things you dont need. ive seen some IFS rigs do some amazing things. and the two guys im talking about are trying to give you really good advice. (tc and axleike)

After reading this thread i have come to the conclusion that you are not understanding what Ike, TC, and Tacoclimber are saying or its not what you are wanting to hear. If you SAS then you will still need armor and lockers. Why not get those now and see how well the 4Runner does? A few on this forum have proven that an IFS rig can be as capable as SAS if done right. Why go to the hassle of spending more money than necessary?

****you posted answer before i could type it

yeah a twin stick lets you have 2wd high and low and if you have 4.7 gears and lockers its pretty handy is you dont have dual cases..... if you drive on the street i would go arbs front and back.... it will cost but you will only do it once.... then go armor and winch and you will be amazing.... when you have another few grand go dual cases... sas is for people who already have all this stuff and still need more flex or are coming close to tipping alot.

wheel the IFS until you get to the point where you're frequently spending money to replace parts. then you've reached it's limits. (or you need to learn to drive more carefully. )
