So,you'll change your oil twice in 100k. Yipes!!! Water from condensation and other contaminants will build up to a bad level within 25k and a test will show that no matter what oil you are using but it's your motor.

He's using a dual filtration unit and that by-pass filter will take out the nasty stuff, so there should be just small sized particles floating around in the oil, and his engine won't "feel" them. What he'll find happening to his oil around the 20/25K mile mark is the oil will be close to 40 weight oil, as opposed to 30wt. I don't know if Amsoil has found a way to prevent this in their oil or not, as that was the case a while back. It's using the right filter and changing that filter at the right times that keeps your oil suitable for extended use without excessive wear to your engine components. IMHO using the dual filtration system makes the oil a lot friendlier to your engine when using extended drain intervals.

Ah,dual filtration would be nice but my piece of mind wouldn't last to 50k but maybe 25k.

I change mine every 3000. Although I use synthetics, I'd rather spend more money now and prolong the time until I have to do something major to my engine.

Amsoil reformulated the 0w-30 so maybe it will stay in grade longer. I will be sampling the oil every 12.5K miles. Time will tell how long it holds up. Amsoil has just redesigned the bypass filter with the new nano-fiber filtering material that they claim will last 60K miles compared to 25K.

Yes. Their previous Amsoil SDF filters were excellent, but their new Ea filter line is awesome. And they now have one for the 3.4L Toyota engine which I will start using at my next filter change...

I used to change every 3000, but when I did an oil analysis and saw that the oil was almost like new at that interval, I went to 5000.

The sample I did included plenty of short trips, stop/go, and idling, as well, and the oil still had plenty of life left. That was with conventional, too. If you're using synthetic and changing at 3K you're pissing away your money.

Amsoil synthetic once-a-year change.
ditto, although I use the 5W-30. This past year I put around 15k miles on the truck and it looked better than I remember dino oil looking at 3k. And although the local shop that stocked Amsoil no longer does, I found a guy who runs a surveying business who runs Amsoil products in his fleet and also sells it. I also use the oversize Amsoil filter (SDF34). I bought the truck new in '03 and except for the first two changes (~4000 miles) I have run Amsoil.

As the odometer hits 3,000mi it's time to change, This is probably the cheapest form of maintence you can do.
I've own many cars and done this schedule to all of them with conventional oil, and keep them going strong. I use a high quality brand.

I go 5000 in my '87 pickup (22RE, 200K on it now), 7500 miles in my Lexus ES300 (82K on it). I use Amsoil and that is what they recommend. I use OEM cartridge filters. Honestly, even after 7500 miles in my car, I can still hardly see the stuff on the dipstick when I check it, I almost feel guilty draining it out.

No idea what oil I use.
Whatever brand the oil change place uses. Might be quaker state... Think its a 5w30, but I am not even sure of that.
But every 3000miles, I go to the same shop, religiously.

I usually push it to about 4000 miles. I always shoot for 3 though.

Every vehicle I have ever owned goes 5,000 miles between oil changes unless something unusual happens such as heavy duty off roading.

Every 5,000 miles makes it easy to keep track of when the next change is due and I honestly think changing at 3,000 miles is just a waste of money.

my 91 4runner had a sticker thats said you can change the oil every 7,000 miles with normal driveing and 3,000 miles with hard driveing so i would say every 5,000 miles is perfect

I change the oil in all my cars and trucks every 3000 miles. When they are under warranty, I drive down to the dealer and pay about ten bucks more than it would cost me to do it myself, but then there can never be any oil related warranty "problems". After it's out of warranty, I buy whatever is the cheapest oil on sale! If it meets the SAE specs, what difference does it make what bottle it's in? I'm an ASE master tech and I've overhauled LOTS of engines and I'll say this- engine wear comes from poor maintinence reletive to type of usage, not oil breakdown.

I usually got 6-10k miles in between changes but I have gone as long as 15k.

I always use Toyota filters aand whatever oil is at my dealership. I bought my 4Runner new in '97 and I now have 220,000 miles on it... no problems and still running and looking great!
