I know I've seen these somewhere, but I can't find them now. I'm having some departure angle issues with my current rear setup and am thinking of moving the Hi Lift to the front bumper when needed.

I know some people just modify CB antenna mounts, but I know I've seen a full machined piece out there designed for this. Any ideas?

It bolted onto either side of the ARB bumper up front.



I just checked my old 4Runner site, I bought it from Central 4WD, but they did not have it on their site back then, so I had the link to 4x4connection instread on my site.

The nice thing about the ARB for the FJ Cruiser is it has holes in it designed to accept the Hi-Lift.

 

I think he means to store/carry it on the bumper. I think.

If memory serves me right, 4x4connection or Man-a-fre had those.
I think you had to bolt those on though, here is a better way...

I bet you can use Four Treks Hi-Lift mounts like I have on my stock rack.



I was thinking at one time to pick up an extra set of rings sized for the diameter of the ARB tubing up front.
I talked to owner Luke about it, and he said ti should work.

BINGO! That's the kind of thing I was thinking of. A little more than I wanted to spend, but the bling factor does have a certain appeal to it.

Plus those big nobs could make it removable in a pinch. Is there a way to lock the Hi Lift in place as well? With that bling it may bee too tempting for little punks.

Yes, those Fourtrek mounts rock.
The big knobber on them is a plus.

You could drill through the bolt and knob if you wanted too.
Or just put the Hi-Lift on before a run.

I never leave mine on for more than a day.
I put my ax, shovel, and Hi-Lift on the night before a run and it never gets touched.

 

Yup, that was my buddy Tim. I thought I recognized them and the background the pic was taken at. I had a '91 SR5 that looked A LOT like yours. I really miss it and always drool over pics of your old rig when I run across them, then I get all nostalgic....

Thanks for the info on the mounts, I think I may go that route. I can leave the jack on the back all locked up in between trips, then toss her on the front when I need some clearance.

 

Cool, I think you will dig the Fourtrek mounts, they are a piece of work.

 

if your arb has the two mounting tabs on the top bar..you can do what others have done. simply bolt in a couple body lift pucks/blocks or some metal tubing...approx 2 or 3" high, with an extended bolt so you can wingnut the hi lift on there with a washer.

if not, it looks like the clamping brackets are the way to go...

 

Ya, unfortunately I only have the "one bracket" model. But that does bring up a good point, I was planning on a CB up there, but if I put that in the back and fab a second bracket, that may be worth looking into.
