This is Hard to watch...really...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knOSXaRGWMg

A guy pooches a 5vz-fe in the Cash for Clunkers program in a 97 4runner.

Apparently this engine lasts much longer than some of his other vids with other engines that he posts, which doesn't surprise me - I only watched this once and while I'd like to think I'm a manly man, it brings up some interesting emotions in me knowing this vehicle has a lot of life left in it more than likely.

I understand the motives behind this program - get older, vehicles off the road worth less money, hopefully people use the $$$ to buy newer or new vehicles, help the economy and the environment (sorta?) at the same time. But seeing a vehicle like this with what we know to be so much life left in it, that is perfectly repairable, bugs the out of me.

yeah that really is stupid, I almost wanted to cry.. I wish thye had a way of weeding out the real clunkers aka ford chevy dodge and let the ones that are worth surviving stay on the road. If I had the money i probably would have given that guy $4500 myself for the thing, shoot I could part it out in the marketplace right?

Dudes,

I saw two FZJ-80s on craigslist going for $4500 bucks. The sellers said they'd rather see them go to somebody for $4500 instead of seeing them being destroyed. Did these dumb@sses even think to look at kbb.com? Even in fair shape with 200K miles they are worth like $9000. Wait til the program is out of money and just trade it in!!!!!

I seriously almost bought these rigs just to resell them for a profit. Jeez already!
