Sorry to hear that, man. Wonder if it had something to do with the cold. Can't really help you with machine shops though, sorry. Good luck finding one.

You could try Firebolt Engine Installation (www.fireboltengines.com). They were recommended by Moore's Engines which recently shut down its reman engine division). I haven't tried them yet (knock on wood) so I really have no info other than that.

Good luck...

James

Wait, you've got symptoms of a blown hg too? Crap, now I'm worried about my truck. I haven't driven it since the cold snap started! The last thing we need is a trifecta of wrecked hg's...

I havn't driven my truck in ...2 1/2 weeks now, it's been on jack stands for about a week.

I need to replace my HG, but not cause it's blown(plus I've got a 4banger...haha!). It still runs great, but I think the gasket is leaking around one of the coolant jackets.

Plus, with the amount of dieseling it was doing when my alternator died, I want to get it pressure tested to make sure I didn't crack the head.

Yeah she got started it and drove it without warming it up. Made it to the 14th street flyover by Rockyveiw and it started spilling antifreeze. So the cold absolutely had something to do with it. But I can't kill her so... I'll take this opprotunity to get the valves redone/reground and the shims taken care of. Any suggestions on a good place for Gaskets locally? I've called Napa and I will be getting new headbolts again ( this is the second time for head gaskets and second engine for the truck). If anyone feels like dropping by and having a cold brew on friday, sat, or sun let me know and I'll send the address. If you ever need a hand with anything getting that thing apart Bill let me know, be glad to help out.

I missed your last post, so I didn't make it. Did you tear it apart?

I had good experience with Certified Machine Shop a few years ago. Back then they were located on the corner of 17th Ave SE and 52nd Street.

Steve, I think I saw you (or rather your truck) around chinook a few days ago. You get it fixed? Where'd you go?

Turns out we dodged a bullet. The rad froze and when the truck warmed up, the thermostat opened up and spit the fluid out the ovedrflow. Short book is that we warmed it up in the garage, new fluids, and she still purrs like a dream. Turns out the steam freaked out the girlfriens and she remembered what i said and shut it down right away, so she actually saved the engine. She is driving it during the day, and she works near chinook so it was probably her at chinook. I wouldn't go near a mall right now if you paid me. I have been up in Ft. Mcmurray for the last week or so. Finally back. We should plan another get together soon, before x-mas and see if more guys will come.
