22r engine tap 84 yota: http://youtu.be/2xSlE1-JE0c
Is it OK to drive long distance? I live in NC for military and I came home to Kansas city to bring my truck back with me. When I got home the battery was bad. I had a LCE block off kit waiting for me when I got there. So I put the egr block plate kit in. And went and got a battery. When I started it it has a really loud tap. Wasn't there last year when I drove it last. Its a new engine from jasper engines of Missouri. I did not get to start it before I put the block off plates on so I don't know if they caused the tap or not. Please give me an answer quick! I'm driving it 1200 miles tomorrow unless someone says I shouldn't tonight!

I haven't yet. I think it might be a leak though because I noticed some carbon underneath the air injection block off plates.

I had a small exhaust leak that sounded like a tap. I heard it under acceleration. But on deceleration it was quiet. And i could hear it at an idle.
If that's not the case you could use a stethoscope to help pin point where it's coming from. Like timing chain? Valves? Or bottom end.

I am almost sure that is an exhaust leak. Mechanical taps are consistent, and that is not consistent, it varies. Hold your hand or a lit lighter around where you did the repair. You will feel an exhaust leak, or it will blow out the flame.
I would find that and repair it before you drive 1200 miles!
