I posted in regional, but I don't think that forum gets much action. 92 4runner v6, starts fine, no power, over heats. Timing good, no exhaust gasses in coolant. At my wits end. Need help! Don't have much cash, but have a 93 xcab with great frame and good body with bad motor to trade for knowledge and labor. Pm me. Please! Im in Beaver county.

 

Have you done a pressure test on the cooling system??

I should also ask are you losing coolant??

Compression check ??

Just how many miles ??

It is possible the radiator is blocked from old age and the engine is just tired.

Then no power compared with what??

 

About 130k. The day I brought it home, it cracked the top of the rad coming up the hill. Didn't do compression check. My bil did check for exhaust in coolant..negative. I think it is electrical. Every now and then it runs OK for 10 seconds or so. It will idle all day and not get hot but if you drive it, it overheats immediately. No power like it won't hardly go at all. I started it up the other day when it was cold out to move it up the driveway, and it seemed to have more oomph.
