Anybody know if the same thing has happened to pro comp? I tried to order a lift from them but it was on backorder. I sent them an email with no reply.

I highly doubt it but you never know.
I was never a huge fan of Pro-Comp anyway.

I was all set to order Downey's 2nd gen exhaust with the Cat. I just needed a nice tax refund check to add-in the headers for my 3.slo. Sorry to see them go... I ordered the 2nd gen Runner rear lift kit and had it installed a couple years ago to fix the "butt sag" and was/still am quite happy with Downey.

I can't spend a fortune but really need an exhaust. . . Mine is the ORIGINAL 1992 exhaust. Stainless Steel preferred. . any suggestions? I'm in Cali and need to pass smog.

Downey / Jim Sickles designed my truck chassis and suspension system about 25 years ago. I raced my truck off-road and then restored it into a show truck. I have the same chassis components he provided me with today except for the shocks. You only get what you pay for and we have lost a great Toyota parts / knowledge source with the closing of Downey Off-Road. In business, you can never please everyone all of the time but Jim Sickles did his best for every customer.

Try a local mom and pop exhaust shop (not one of the chain stores) and see what they can come up with.

I think pacesetter makes a smog legal header for the 22RE, but I don't know if it's any good or not.

I just jioned this site becouse I was trying to get ahold of downey and couldent get threw. Thats to bad, Its hard to believe they are gone.

What about there wealth of knowlge!! There was a guy there named Jim(I think), I talked to him a few years ago for about 2 hours. I learned a lot about my 4.3/4l60e conversion. I hope he is still around and doing good.

After I broke his motor mounts and he sold me the wrong VSS (non-Cali legal), I never bought from him again. He was overpriced and you could not order online, that is probably why he's out of business. One time Jim talked my ear off about Cali legal swaps, and the politics. I ended up talking to JTR and got everything I needed. Since most of his stuff, was made by other manufacturers for Downey, you should be able to find the stuff. I also hear rumor that he sold his business, so the stuff may be available soon.

Its sad to see any company go out of business.

Exclamation Parts search

Where can I find downey front suspension parts for a 2 wheel drive, '82 toyota pickup. I'm looking to replace my current stock with control arms, tortion bars, ball joints, the works.

Well, that's no good. My downey 25mm torsion bars on my '87 Toyota 2wd pickup just had a catastropic failure yesterday. It just happened out of the blue on smooth pavement.

It looks like a clean break.

Anyone know where I can find replacement torsion bar really quick?

It's possible.
Do you jump your pickup, or anything like that?

I know Downey is still active on ih8mud, and has posted a few times hinting he still has parts for sale. Might be worth heading over there, and sending him a PM. Only way I know to contact him.
