Documentation of repairs.

So, I've gotten a few things done as far as fluid changes in the truck lately, and I just know I'm going to start forgeting everything that needs to be done, or what has already been done.

I'm wondering about a couple things, and what everybody does to keep track of:
1. What you have done as far as preventative maintainance,
2. When/what you have coming up to do.

I'm not looking for a whole list of everything that has to be done with it, just ways you guys keep track of the schedule.

*Sorry that this was in maintainence first off, I never read directions.

I just made up a simple form on Excel that has Task, Date, Mileage, and Next Due. I write everything down on there even if it's just dabbing some grease on my steering stops. You'd be amazed at stuff that you go "I just did that" and look at the log and it was 20K ago. Plus if you ever decide to sell having a log is a big pleaser to prospective buyers. It's partly why I bought this rig to start with as it had a complete maintenance history and reciepts from the time it was new.

I have a cool program I use, and I can upload it later to here, around 6 MB.

No copyright infridgment on it, as the author never released the full copy, only the trial version.
I even went as far as submitted $$$ for the full version and never heard back, but I was able to secure my $$$ back from the outfit that handled the shareware.

The demo lets you record up to 25 items I think, then you can install the app into another folder and call it number 2, then work from that folder.

It is called Beagelware, and is very nice software.

Maybe put it somewhere for everybody to download incase they are in the same situation? Just a suggestion.

Not trying to hijack, but...

i'm a computer engineer and part-time programmer. If i were to write a program to keep track of maintainence stuff, what kind of features would you want? I'm thinking right now that I could have a table of sorts that lists stuff like UKMyers suggested...."service performed", "date", "mileage", "next due date", what else?????

I'm not committing to this yet, just trying to get some ideas on what would be useful if i decide to write a program to do this.

PM me with ideas. I'll start a thread once i get some rough ideas.

Lee, did you get it unzipped?
There is a setup file in there after it is unzipped.

Jsnby, that would be cool if you could write a program to log stuff.
That is pretty much what that program I have here does.

There's a software for your PDA/computer by twopeaks called Vehicle Manager. It's really cool, easy to use, and if you have a PDA/PDA phone, you can keep everything synced up. I don't know what it costs now but I got a deal a couple of years ago when they were blowing out their software.

BTW, this company has other cool tracking utilities such as Triptracker, Flexwallet, and PerfectHome. I have all and it makes tracking anything a snap.

i had to pass it over to my resident computer guru to get it working. apparently, i missed some small step last night while trying to get it working. now, i just have to get the ambition to input all my records.

thanks,
