Do it yourself window install

Hey, guys. I just bought a rear window for my truck, and I was wanting to put in myself. I know I would need some sort of sealant and such, and I have the old rubber seal.

Should I just bring it to an auto glass place and see if they'll put it in for me? (for a price of course) I have a pretty knowledgeable friend that would help me, but I don't want to screw it up. Any idea how much it would cost?

Also, do you know where I could find some 4WD mud flaps?

Thanks guys!

Daniel

As for the window.. its an easy install. You don't need any sealant. All you need is the rubber gasket/ liner unless the gasket you have is old and rotted.
I replaced my rear window (damn quads coming through it ) last year. Wasn't too hard at all. Of course, you'll need an extra set of hands, some soap, and some nylon rope.

Heres some decent instructions.

And heres the FSM

I followed the instructions in the first link I posted and got it done. It took a couple tries because the rope was being stubborn. But should only take a first time a half hour or so.

Good luck.

That's awesome, I didn't really know it would be that easy. Forget getting someone else to do it.. Ha!

And I know exactly what you're talking about with the quads.. The guy that had her before me had one in the back and went wheelin (too fast obviously) down a trail and didn't see a fallen tree and went right over it and the quad went right through the glass.

So I don't have to worry about the "removal". That part was already done.. haha!

I'll try it when I get a day off, I appreciate it, man.
