Debate on 20R VS 22R

Well, I'd like to find out everyone's opinion on what they feel is the better engine and why.

I honestly have never worked on a 20R, but the 20R and 22R engines are very similar in design. The 22R is slightly larger (2.2L vs 2.4L).

I would not hesitate to own either one.

Supposedly, the 20R head has a better airflow design. I think that would only matter if you are building a "performance" engine.

I would imagine parts availability of the 22R, both early and late versions (especially the late version) will outlive the 20R.

The 20R does have a double timing chain with steel guides already in it. Yes, head flows better, and crank, rods all the same. If you bore out the 20R I think you would have a better low end toque and more horse power then a stock 22R.

You put the 20R head on the 22R block and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Hey Dude how are ya. Don't like turbo's I had one in my 84 200x. Whet through 4 of them in 6 years. The other thing was as soon as you changed the oil in the car it was black!

Just busy busy! I was tongue in cheek with the turbo comment. I used to race DSMs at the track so I know all about how expensive they are
