Debate on 20R VS 22R

Well, I'd like to find out everyone's opinion on what they feel is the better engine and why.

That is like saying which of your kids do you like the most!

I honestly have never worked on a 20R, but the 20R and 22R engines are very similar in design. The 22R is slightly larger (2.2L vs 2.4L).

I would not hesitate to own either one.

Supposedly, the 20R head has a better airflow design. I think that would only matter if you are building a "performance" engine.

I would imagine parts availability of the 22R, both early and late versions (especially the late version) will outlive the 20R.

LOL
The 20R does have a double timing chain with steel guides already in it. Yes, head flows better, and crank, rods all the same. If you bore out the 20R I think you would have a better low end toque and more horse power then a stock 22R.

You put the 20R head on the 22R block and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Just busy busy! I was tongue in cheek with the turbo comment. I used to race DSMs at the track so I know all about how expensive they are
