Cheapest place to buy 16" steelies??

My cousin wants to buy some 16" black steelies for his 2nd Gen 3.slow. Summit has them for $51.95 each. Link Would you do that or 15s? and also x7 or x8? I don't know enough about this yet, to advise him, so I told him I'd ask here 1st. I duno where else he could get them cheaper. Ebay is not cheaper.

why would you buy 16" steelies?
thats just a waste unless you NEED them to clear brakes.
They cost more and tires cost way more.

As for width, what size tire is he going to run width wise?

if around a 10.50" wide tire stick with a 15x7
if more then that go with a 15x8

Not sure on what tire size, but I'm guessing 10-11" wide max. He learned what I'ma have to do for my 13.5s. Haha. I'm guessing 16s for looks. He has stock 15"ers now. I told him I thought 15s were better for wheeling since you have more sidewall, but I don't think he will wheel much.

its the tire diameter that he has to worry about, not so much the rim size. it will add some rotating mass but it shouldnt be noticeable.

Yes.
I ran a 11.50" on the factory 15x7 alloy.
You gennerally dont want to go 4" wider then the wheel.

16" steelies will not look much different then 15"
If he really wants to then that price is good, but his tires will be more expensive.

Nah... I had an F150 Lightning that came w/stock 17s & 4:10s. I put 20s on and made sure I picked the tires to give it the same rolling diameter. Accelerated almost identical. Then, I put some 15s w/a 50 series tire. It felt like I had 10:4s! I destroyed a sidewall on a hard takeoff. It was pretty cool.

Ya, that's what I was thinking, but the difference in price is really not that much. It will be harder to find used though. We saw a 2nd Gen on some 17s w/an aggressive tire. I'll have to admit it looked really nice and still had some meat.
