Another cat bites the dust

This is what I immediately thought of too. I was expecting to see: "I backed over my wife's orange tabby this morning..." or something along those lines.
My catalytic converter was stolen the day we bought our 4Runner last year. I had already driven it, but my wife hadn't yet. My wife started it and immediately locked the keys in with it resonating like a 3.4L lawnmower. She didn't like her first impression of it - stupid auto locks.
We had to wait while the repair shop replaced it before we could even test drive it. We still bought it that day.
More importantly, I had no idea kittens were so close high up on the hit list. For heaven's sake, Please think of the Kittens!

Yea that sucks. It is a problem all over. Mine was stolen 3.5 months ago, at work. At least I noticed it before I started my vehicle.
You should try to file a police report even though nothing can really be done. In order for the legislature to take this theft seriously and put more pressure on the metal salvage yards to stop the thieves from having a place to sell, they are going to have to see how bad the problem is, and statistics from police reports are a really good indicator.
It may not even take too long, as many police departments now have online report filing for these types on non-emergency crimes.
And to repond to ULFUR, these cats are easy to remove. Just undo 4 bolts. It is probably quicker than a sawzall, and a whole lot quieter too.

Reading your post that morning and meeting/talking to you later was crazy.
Yeah, baby needs some new shoes...I've been searching for some used ones but no luck. I'll stop by and say hi next time I'm in. Thanks!!

To anyone running a stock cat - Follow these steps and you will never have a stolen cat again.
1. Remove OEM cat
2. install cheap highflow cat
3. sell oem cat
4. buy beer with profit.

we had a big problem with this around here and one of the guy's in my class had his stolen while it was on campus.
they were taken off people's trucks in the hospital parking lot and other places around.
I was lucky enough nobody ever took mine.
they did get busted , I guess they had like 7-9 converters on them when they got caught.

cats and spare tires!
My daughter-in law's cat was just stolen from her "99 4runner along w/ her spare tire mounted on 16" alloy (stock). My wife's spare was also stolen when she went to visit my son/d-in law. UKMyers suggestiion of the chain from cat to frame sounds like a reasonable way to curtail theft.

Luckily I haven't heard of any 'cat-burglars'
in my area. As far as I'm concerned,
I'm probably safe for the time being as my stock-height
Tundra with nerf bars can't really be crawled under
and I seem to have misplaced the cat on my 92

In Iceland they are just thrown away (oughta be recycled but well...) and if they were recycled anyway, they wouldn't pay for it.
But interresting indeed.
P.S. Where the heck does the name "ULFUR" come from? it's written Ulfr, (pronounced Úlfur tho') Readin' too many Nordic sagas?
