Another cat bites the dust

About 2 months ago the catalytic converter got stolen off my truck while i was at work. Well this morning my ex girlfriend calls me up saying her cat got stolen while it was in the parking lot at her work.

It was her birthday 2 days ago so I'm gonna take care of this for her. Happy Birthday huh?
I wish there was a way we could make those cats unstealable

put a test pipe in then when you need to get emissions done throw a cat on there for a week, then unbolt it and put the pipe back in.

I couldn't believe yours got stolen at your work. When you told me that I thought you were joking. And your girlfriends at her work too That's not right. I'll bet these punks go after our trucks because it's easier to get under them. If I ever catch one of these SOB's it's not going to be nice.

hey freqofnature, today was a very coincidental way to meet you, but it's nice to see there are other (very) local toyota fans out there. When you're ready for some new rubber find me and i'll take care of you.

we had a big problem with this around here and one of the guy's in my class had his stolen while it was on campus.

they were taken off people's trucks in the hospital parking lot and other places around.

I was lucky enough nobody ever took mine.

they did get busted , I guess they had like 7-9 converters on them when they got caught.

Ive gotten a few tires stabbed. Haha i dont have any cats on my truck anymore and unless i am going wheeling i keep some 31 inch all terrains because to replace or fix tires like that is expensive. Sorry to hear about your misfortune too

and the east indians that have far to much money DO have pet lions so a lion would only stop white people.

Doesn't insurance cover the cost? I'll have to check with mine but then again I'd just replace it with a $100 aftermarket cat.

Probably only if you file a police report.

Go to the hardware store and buy a 1 foot chunk of chain. Tack one end to the cat and the other to frame. Make it tight enough it won't rattle around. It'll probably be enough to make them move onto the next rig.

Uhm, oh, people *actually* bother stealing cats?
I thought radios or speakers would be enough, but lyin' under the truck and cutting the cat away, wtf?

I think I'm confused.

they sell them to recyclers. They get good money for them due to the expensive metal that is inside them. I read about this in either a yahoo or msn article. They said though that you can get up around 200.00 per cat at a recycler. Not sure how true that is. Wouldn't replacement cats be big money as well?

Folks around my area have been stealing outdoor AC units from peoples homes to sell to scrap for the copper.
