3vze engine block, deck
i have a quesiton about the 3vze engine deck. i havnt had one aprt for a while. im thinking of fitting some 3vzfe heads on it. i heard its been tried but no answers so if i can find a set of heads id be interested and giving it a whirl. yea i know right, swap to 5vzfe, but why not do something not done or successfully done anyway.
anyway long storey short i just want to know what this one hole is. its beside the coolent passage at the front cylinder. i know the one hole beside it is actually a headbolt hole. the other one is water jacket but whats the other one in the corner. on opposite side of engine the other cylinder head has one too. i dont currently have an engine apart to actually see down it so i cant remember what its for. so if anyone knows could youi please fill me in.
heres a link to a picture that i have pointed what im referring to.

my computer doesnt like the link so heres a link to see it yourself too.

I think its just way too much work for minimal gains. You would have to swap the electronics as well. Heads, intake, basically everything from the heads up. Would the timing belt work right? Why not just swap the entire 3vzfe motor? If doing that, why not just swap a 5vz?

yea i was thinking of just swapping the heads making a manifold and maybe just go for aset of 5vzfe cams. then id have a 3vze more like a 5vzfe, and then i could adapt all the other junk from the 3vze engine to run with it. would be a lot of work. but i do have acess so several machinests, a guy with a water table cuttin so i could cut flanges etc easy. plus i cna aluminum weld and steel weld. so making the stuff would be kinda of fun. i have aan old tired out engine already just need th eother stuff. thank god for craigslist cause now i can find more of what im looking for lol.
so in my opinion it could be interesting to try something like that, but id rather just find out the details first. i know the 3vzfe top half wont work so im notgonna bother with it. but im trying to find out what that hole in the head is for sure. i believe if im not mistaken that its an oil hole to let the oil run back down into block. if thats the case id just tap it, and put a plug with sealer in it and thats th eend of that hole. according to the pictures iv seen, the water jackets are a bit different so ill just either use a die grinder and fit them or have them machined.
