Wont start

Well we just finished the rebuild of my 91 pickup. I got in turned the key and it clicked once and nothing else. So now i am surfing the net looking for possible problems. Any suggestions. Where did I go wrong in the wiring?

Is the battery charged? Terminals free of corrosion? That's where I'd start...then start worrying about bigger problems.

yep its charged and good. I actually had a wiring issue (stupid me) so now with that fixed she runs very rough. Its like the plugs are firing in the wrong order. the fire 1 3 4 2 in a clockwise rotation on the cap right?

Think so...
When I first started up my engine, it ran pretty well, but not as well as a new engine should. My timing turned out to be way off, partly because my distributer gear was off one tooth.

for mine i have to give it a little gas to get her going then it idles really hard. there is smoke coming out of the header and it seems to be popping. I guess ill have to tear it down and re time it.

You may have a small exhaust leak, I had the same thing happen...forgot one bolt. I can't remember what the torque is supposed to be for those bolts, but make sure they're torqued down to spec's.
With the distributer being off you just pull it back out & get it lined up right, not much to tear down.
