Will ball joint spacers break?

hey i was looking into lifting my 4runner about 2 to 3 inchs just enough to get 33s under it, might do a body lift later but here's my question. has anyone used the ball joint spacers and spring spacers to lift it? im just worried that they will break on the trail. thanks...

The ball joint spacers and associated hardware are pretty strong, see details below:

Have not heard of any trail-related breakage.

I have front bj spacers, they are pretty strong, i wouldn't worry about breaking them.

The ball joint will fail before the spacers will. The spacers are just a pice of milled aluminum, there really isn't anything there to break.

I agree either the ball joint itself or the upper control arm will break before that 2"+ piece of billet aluminum will.

there made of t6061 aluminum which is good all around material. people have been running them for years now with little problems. just make sure to read all the write ups to get a good idea of whats involved.

Mine have been in use for a couple years & although no extreme abuse I have used them off road & I can't see where they have even picked up a rock ding. So my answer is no, they won't break.

I ran my 3 inch bj spacer lift for 3 years and went through at least 5 CV axles because I kept ripping the boots. And this was with manual hubs. Although I did forget to unlock the hubs every now and then.

With ADD and a 3 inch ball joint spacer lift you are going to need a differential drop. If you run this lift you will eat up your CV boots due to the angle and the CV axles rotating all the time (unlike manual where you can unlock the hub from the axle).

Make the investment of Manual Hubs or a Differential Drop if you want 3 inches out of this setup. It will pay for itself!
