Wheel Spacers

Wheel Spacers
What wheel spacers are you guys using when putting on 285's vs. 265's?? Looks like it will hit at the top around the upper control arm...Also, I am worried about wear on ball joints and other parts with the lift/spacers??!!

I think Kregg used 1.25" wide on his 96 that I worked on Sat and he runs 35s.

You can get by using these cheapos with 285s:

I have 1" spacers and chose those because they are the smallest I could find that aren't the "slip-on" kind. I have heard the slip-ons can vibrate a lot, but they are dirt cheap!

Me too. From experience/measuring it has a lot to do with the backspacing and the wheel itself. For instance, the wheel I have w/ 4.25 backspacing may be a little off with another wheel with the same backspacing, just because the wheel is shaped different. I have 1/4" in the front, but since I'm doing my brake upgrade this weekend, I ordered 1.25" bolt on spacers from wabbit. Also depends on a lift if you're going with the 285.

What rims are you running? Because it really depends on the backspacing. If they are stock, most likely you'll need the 1/4"ers, but if they are aftermarket, you may need thicker than that or not need them at all.

So if I can jump in here, I am looking to put a 3" OME lift with a 1" Toytec body on my 98 4runner and run 285/75R16. My wheels are the stock alloy yota wheels (16x7) will the 285's fit with just those 1/4" spacers then?
Thanks

You don't necessarily need the BL either. With a little plastic fender liner trimming, hammering a couple pinch welds flat and taking my rear mudflaps off, I could clear my 285/75 M/Ts before I put the BL on - and that was with brand new tread. You'll probably have to do that stuff anyways, even with the BL.
