Wheel bearing Question

Hey guys, I am under the impression I have a wheel bearing going. Some sort of hummy noise starting at around 50 mph and a slight roughness in the steering and driving feel when going slower.

My question is though: how long can this be driven on? I want to go fishing this weekend and its about 100 Kms away on the highway(at 50+ mph). Is there any warning signs that appear when the bearing is extremely bad? Noises and such? Doesn't seem to be any play in the wheel when jacked up.

Appreciate any help
Cheers
Kael

wheel bearing are a growling/humming sound. That humming is a wheel bearing I bet. When you lift the wheel and when you are pushing and pulling on it. Are your hands at the positions 9 and 3 (sides of wheel)? Or are they at 12 and 6 (top and bottom of wheel)? Wheel bearing play is checked at 12 and 6 (top and bottom of wheel) and steering play is checked at 9 and 3 (sides of wheel). If it just started, you should be okay going on your trip. My wife's VW has had a bad wheel bearing for a long time, I just need to actually get in there and replace it...

...hope that helps...

Really appreciate the reply!

I checked at 12 and 6 and seemed to be fine, but it is early I believe.

Thanks again!

After the trip, repack the bearing and call it good! That's the nice part about yotas, serviceable wheel bearings.
