What are some things I could do?

I was wondering where I should start to add some cool things to my 1992 5spd 4Runner with a 3VZ-E. I'm not that mechanically inclined. I just recently got the all the ball joints replaced at the shop and put 31x10.50 tires on that puppy. I noticed a slight drop in power when driving up paved hills. I think the next "to do" should be to add a new exhaust system. Any thoughts?

Maybe this is my ignorance coming through but why would you want a smaller steering wheel?

I thought larger meant more leverage, which means less work to perform said task...

crazn,
Please use the *search* option like it's your best friend. It will yield plenty of answers and opinions.

Next, you could start editing your profile, location, avatar, and adding a little bit of personal info. That can help tremendously.
If you need some guidance with that, shoot me a PM.

Lastly, let us know what you specifically have in mind. What do you want to do with YOUR 4runner? We'll be glad to assist.

"Add some cool things" is only asking for indefinite replies.

Moving this to newbie land.

your right.
bigger is easier, but i prefer nimble, tight handling.
and really- im strong enough to turn the wheel.
perhaps when my 8y.o. daughter wants to drive it, i would put on the stock wheel. but for d.d. a racing wheel is my favorite.

and to stay on topic.
i will add (as i did in my 1st post) Theft prevention.
then regular maintenance. that will surely keep you busy for a month or 2.

a smaller wheel you dont have to turn as much to get all the way around, so you can do it quicker, but yes it is a bit harder.

Smaller wheel will also give you that much more leg room.

Pretty sure you need a SAS.

Weld both diffs.

Lastly would be a high lift jack.

Good points, I never thought about a smaller steering wheel in those circumstances.

The solid axle is cool, maybe not the sort of cool that the poster had in mind....maybe some spinners, under body neon lights, ummmmm.....those glowing windshield washer nozzles I saw someone with not long ago? Oh, the truck must go *BOM-BOMM-BUMM-BOMMM-BOM* as you go down the street listening to your stereo; I can't tell you on a public forum how "cool" I think that is.

Cool is too subjective I guess, at 40 I don't think a lot of stuff is "cool" anymore. To me "cool" is making sure all the lights work (I.E. headlights, signals, brake lights etc.) the tires don't rub, the engine, tranny, diffs & fuel system doesn't leak, the truck gets lubed at least every once in a while, the oil gets changed,...well you get the picture. I think ARB's are "cool" does that count?

I agree from someone else in the over 40 crowd.

To get back on topic, new shocks, steering stabilizer, rear springs if you have the now famous butt drag. Stay away from K&N, will do nothing for the 3.slow
