well, what gearing does it have currently? what size tires???

First things first, do a tune up, that way you know when the last time everything is done, instead of wondering.

Check all the welds and engineering of his sas. Just give it check and make sure you think everything is safe.

What kit did he use for the SAS? High Steer equipped (should be)? Did he use a Toyota axle for the conversion and if so what year? A toyota axle will not have the traditional differential cover on it like a chevy axle, diff bolts will point to the driveshaft.
Post up some pictures (try a free service like photobucket.com) ..watch out for death wobble..

Stock Gearing is usually (probably 4.10) ok up to a 31-32" tire. usual recommendations are 4.88 for 33's and 5.29's for 35's.
