used seafoam, no smoke

1995 pickup 5 speed 165k miles

Last night I used seafoam in my truck for the first time, follow instructions, no smoke. Warmed up truck, slowly put 4 oz into brake booster vac line ( took about 3 min) turned off engine and let it sit about 7 min the took off... Nothing. Do I have an amazingly clean engine or did I screw up? Anyone else have this result?

From my experience, the only time I've ever gotten smoke from a vehicle, is when it's carbed and you pour it right down the throat, choking it so it dies. Then on startup it will smoke. Never have gotten my EFi trucks to smoke.

I was very paranoid that my neighbors would call the fire department with the plumes of smoke everybody talks about. To be honest, I didn't really notice any difference either in performance or running condition. The only reason I did it in the first place was I had no vacuum through my egr and a smog tech suggested that it may clear out and carbon buildup stopping the vacuum.

From what I read on here, the brake booster vac line is the right one

I also read the pcv valve is a good location, I may try that in a couple of days. I do regularly clean the throttle body, perhaps that has helped keep me clean.

Ha ha ha. I'm thinking my truck is just nice and clean, I'll give it another try in a couple days and see what happens.

Pour 1/3 in gas, 1/3 in oil
Start engine, pour the last 1/3 into the vac slowly, then when it's almost done pour it all in quickly to stall the engine out.
Wait 5-10 mins, and start it up.
If it doesn't smoke, then it didn't circulate through your engine (my best guess)

It works. I have used it alot. It needs to set 15 minutes after. 165,000 should smoke like a chimney.

One thing I would add is I did a rebuild on my 89 22 re and sent my injectors to witchdoctor and they were 89% before he cleaned them. I attribute the cleanliness to monthly sea foam in a my gas tank. The motor have 220,000 on it so you know the injectors were not new.

Same here... No smoke, well... Not the plumes I have heard about anyway...

I too attribue this to a clean motor.. Mine had 250k when I did it, butnmost of those were highway miles, I imagine if they had been 250k in town/city miles, it prolly would have smoked like a chimney...
