Cooling fan trouble

Ok, I know this is a little funny, but I need some resources on Jeep parts. My parents rig is a '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The hydrolic cooling fan quit working and we are looking for a new one. The dealer wants it for $1300(I mean stealership), we have looked at junkyards everywhere and cannot find a single working piece. The electric cooling fans for the 4.0 seem to be quite easy to find since thats all that we have come up with. But the fan for the 4.7 is an odd part since it runs off of the steering pump. Any suggestions?

^This is why I drive a Toyota!!

Some junk yards are linked to a nation wide parts group, they will be able to search nation wide for your part, I have seen the website, but can't remember the name. I happen to be a fan of the cherokee, so I won't beat ya up to bad about that. Visit a jeep forum as well, I'm sure you'll find people in the know about where to get parts as well

Car-Part.com

So you're looking for the fan clutch right?

I just did a nationwide search on that site and found 100+ fan clutches listed for a 2001 Grand Cherokee(7 in WA). If you're looking for the cooling fan assembly, there's 100+ of those on there for the 4.7L too(3 in WA).

Just looked it up and think we got a part. Its ordered and hopefully it works. I say that because we actually found the same part twice in our search. The first time the guys at the junkyard said it worked but when we looked at it, it was missing the solenoid. We told the guy, it wont work without that switch. So we kept looking and found one at another yard, they said it worked also. When we went to pick it up, it was missing the solenoid. Long story short, we found out it had been ordered from the very yard we had just looked at! My dad was not very happy about that. Anyway hope this part is good.
