Truckmoto SAS vs. IFS

I know this has been beat for years. I have a proposal. Just like there are Supermoto races for bikes, why not have one to further the ideas about SAS vs IFS ?

Yes we have CORR, XRRA, Desert racing, etc....But how about a course set up specifically for several configured rigs. Just an idea. Just to formally compare the two disciplines on a closed, controlled and timed course. For nothing but bragging rights.

Strictly low or no mod rigs, except for SAS, long travel kits, or reasonabley fabricated rigs. Normally aspirated, pump gas, nothing over 37" tires.

No buggies, moonships, handcrafted heat seekers.

If something like this already exists please let me know. And I'll crawl back into my cave..........

yes, its Wednesday.......

I saw something sort of like this on tv. It was combo course with rocks and desert. I didn't recall any ifs trucks. They raced around a course. THink it was a 20 mile loop or something maybe more. One section was like baja stuff the other was a rocky trail what you would expect the typical rock crawler to be on. It would have been cool to see how ifs rigs would have done.

What I saw on TV was different than the normal tough truck comps. But yeah the tough truck comps have all sort of setups ont those trucks. Of course most tough truck competitions do not have hard core rocks in them. Tough truck comps tend to be geared towards ifs long travel systems.

Sounds like you saw King of the Hammers on TV, that would be pretty close to what the OP described, but it's seriously biased to the rock crawling side.

Yup, been to the Tough Truck comps, and watched plenty of the Rock Racing and desert racing.

I'm looking for the hybrid of both. I like the 20 mile loop idea, maybe less, say 10 or 5, for 5 laps. Then taking the best time and posting it.

Of course we'd all want to know how well the vehicles held up during the comp. There could be a tally of parts SAS and IFS which held up and which broke.

On a shorter course you could take it further and see how the teams/vehicle drivers repaired their rigs in order to finish the circuit.

You could have big sponsers, but only the team could work on the rig with the tools they carried with them only fixing/replacing the parts that broke or were in need of repair. You wouldn't be able to put fresh gears in for each round for instance, only if they broke. Obviously to see their strength and reliability

Kinda like a Rig Survival Test. Where Survivorman meets Baja meets mudbog meets hillclimb meets water crossing, etc....

Without trekking 3000 miles in South America of course.........

The more I think about it, the more I see its going to take a really capable IFS rig to enter the King of the Hammers or XRRA in order to compare.

Again mostly race built rigs.

Still looking for the DD/weekend survival/warrior rig test.

Its kind of like the top truck challenge that offroad adventures has. Always ends up with the tank trap.
