transfer case tech question?

transfer case tech question?

87 4x4 pickup, i just installed my new trans, bolted up my transfer case, and realized that the book says to have the transfer case in 4H when installed. With my shifter out, im not sure what gear its in could be neutral for all i know. Am i going to have to pull the transfer out and start over???? any help would be great help

No, shouldn't have to. IIRC that's just to aid In reinstalling or removal of the shifter. Not a biggie.
