too late for "service campaigns"?
Hi all, thanks for having me,
I just bought a 1990 4runner, v6, auto. I've been doing some reading about different recalls and special service campaigns. The guy I bought the truck from had only owned it a year and didn't know it's repair history. I'll call Toyota tomorrow to have them run the VIN and see if, for instance, the head gaskets have been replaced. If not, is there some kind of statute of limitations on getting those kinds of things done?
Thanks!

When you call them register yourself as the current owner of the truck and they will be able to tell you what has and has not been done... if it has'nt been done yet they will do it there usually is no limit on service campaigns... you may just have to insist that they do it is all... they should also be able to tell you the history of the vehicle... where/when it was sold, the last time a dealer saw it for maintenance... get them to check when the was the last time the timing belt was changed if they have a record of it they need to be done every 160000kms or so...

precisely my point coug... but you still have to register yourself as the owner so they know where to find you... and some other mfgs. [who shall remain nameless but you might know them] are infamous for "expiring" service campaigns... thankfully Toyota is not one of them...
