Tires! Tires! Tires!

Ok everyone I know the old what size question has been beat to death what i want to know is what kind? I have been reading reviews and looking at all kinds of tires and I'm drawing a blank no reviews give me the info I want because most are guys that have a jacked to the sky f250 diesel with 22 inch rims and they never see dirt or mud or snow...I would love some real thoughts and feedback about mt tires like cooper stts toyo mt ect. i had 45" boggers on my old 83 yota and loved them but I want something a little less aggressive but still has a good bite for my new 85 and in a 33" sense it only has a 3" lift and the stock 22r

1) what is your budget?

2) ordering online an option?

2b) if ordering online how much is it gonna cost you to mount and balance and shipping to what zip?

3) 33x10.50's or 33x12.50's? Assuming 15" wheel.

I can go either way on ordering have good freinds in high places...I can mount and balance myself and budget isn't a real issue at the moment because the little 31s i have on the rig now are almost new 90% or better so I can save up for awhile just looking for a good set of mts for the summer runs I want to make mostly trail, rocks, nothing extreme...i will continue to run my 31's on the road because they are so new and I'd rather not pay a bunch of money for mts and destroy them just going to and from work

my biggest thing is comp. my boggers were so soft they were hashed in no time seeing how my old yota was my daily driver and being a 16 year old kid with a 383 stroker and giant truck isn't a great thing for tires either...id like a mid grade comp. somethin soft enough to grab some rocks but hard enough to take a little road trip without too much wear I've heard the toyo mt's last forever but no one gave my any idea as to how they do off road

I like my 33x12.5's they are Mastercraft Courser M/T's. Good tire offroad and they behave well on road too.

I think the BFG MT is where you should be looking they are bullet proof, great performance with lasting wear. I run the AT's on the street and TSL SX's in the mud/sand/rocks.

That is the reason why I had said what is his budget. If I had the money to buy them, those are the ones I would go with.

well thanks for the advise guys I do a mix of trails rocks and of course mud I've been looking pretty hard at the claws I have heard very little bad things about them other than the price tag but like i said before price i can deal with considering that i'm not in a huge crunch for tires...do any of you guys run the baja claws? i've never even seen them on a rig offroad so I don't know much about them

I want to try and stay as close to stock as possible with this truck how well do the brakes and axles hold up running a bigger tire? my old yota had all 3/4 ton chevy running gear so I never had much experience with the lighter toyota stuff

I think 33s are the max of what you want, without putting too much stress on the suspension. That's just me though.

if i were in your shoes i would go with a swamper tsl radial, the pro comp x terrains , bfg km2s, or pro comp xtreme mud terrain. and before you diss miss the radial swamper my buddy had a 92 or 93 with 33 12.5 tsl radials and he daily drove it and we were in highschool bein stupid kids and they wore great. the claws where horribly if they are on the road enough ive seen alot of people bald them very shortly. and all the others ive seen and heard are amazing. the final choice is up to you though.

these tires are great dual purpose i have had the same set for 2 years on my truck that the ex wife just got in the devorce and still had about 45% tread left and i have crawled and mudded this thing in the woods in louisiana and at muddfest and made guys with bigger tires on trucks with more power look bad so these are my recomendation also i drove the truck to work every day and used it as my hunting rig so it saw every thing from parties with my buddies to long trips on the hwy

don't get me wrong I loved my boggers it may have just been the way I abused them that caused them to wear out so quick, I assume It would have happened to any tire I spun those things every chance I got and I know that no tire will hold up to that kind of abuse for long...I just wasn't sure on how soft they are it's been a while ago sense I had them...I have a lot of thinking to do before I make the final choice and with a lot lighter rig i'm sure tires will last a lot longer, that 83' i had was a heavy monster with the frame being off a 3/4 ton chevy...but all this info has helped a lot thanks
