Diff Bearing question

I have my 3rd members in a shop right now getting re-geared from 4.10 to 4.88. And they called me telling me that I have a V6 front 3rd member and the bearings they purchased for my 4cyl will not fit that front end. is there a difference in the front 3rd member to make that possible? I did a part search on advanceautoparts and its the same part number but i thought maybe someone on here would be able to help me.

4cyl and v6 front diffs I believe were the same, only difference was in the rear.

I wouldn't really give it much in the strength department, since its not the carrier bearings that make the 7.5" diff weak.

I wouldn't sweat it. You'll break a v6 diff just as fast as a 4cyl.

i think he is saying someone put a v6 diff in the front housing. i think the carrier bearings are different from the two. v6 carrier vs. 4cyl carrier. the 4cyl bearings are smaller than the v6 ones i believe

They should be the same. The only difference that I can think of is the ADD have a different bearing on one side than the NON add.

That would make a lot more sense. If thats the case, throw that one in the rear!

haha yea, all this confusion coulda been avoided by posting info about his rig but yea i would run that one in the rear, and to the OP just have them order the V6bearing for it
