Tire size for 5" lift
Hey guys. Been researching a ton on tire size and I keep going in circles from all the variables so I decided to post my own application. Got a 3rd genertion 4runner and I'm installing a 3" cornfed front, 3" ome coil rear, and a 2" body lift. I'm purchasing 16x8 rims. These are the two sizes I'm tossing around. 35/12.50R16 or 33/12.50R16. What are the pros and cons of each OR do you reccommend something different. ANY help would be awesome

Re gear
you are going to need to re gear for sure I went from 4.10 to 5.29 for 35 x12.5's but i have a 5 speed you want to check around for the auto but I believe you want at least 4.88's but check using the search button to make sure of the gearing to work with the auto tranny.

deffinately regear, youll see a drop with the 33s in mpgs, and is you go 35 youll see a bugger drup, and even though the body will be 5' up the frame is still only 3, so 35s may rub, and be a little much... juss my .02 though

thanks for info guys. I already ordered the bodylift and suspension lift but I decided to go with 33s so i'm going to install the sus lift and tires and wheels and if I decide I don't need the 1" body lift I might have one for sale if anyones interested.
Waiting by the mailbox but I'll post pics when shes finished. CANT freakin wait!

with those 33s you wont have to regear.. i got 285/75 BFG a/ts on mine and its just fine.. but when i lock the front and rear im deff. gonna go to 4.56, so in the futire, like all of us i want bigger i can easily step up to 35s

You could go with a 34x10.50-15 Super Swamper LTB's. My Uncle put them on his Ford Ranger with a 4in lift and they fitted good. Cause he tried a set of BFG 35x12.50 that someone had and they would rub pretty good on the trail. But the LTB's fit great , dont rub & they have very aggresive tread. And perform very well no matter what we throw at them. And as far as wear, they have done very well also.

Sorry I didnt know brand matters. I ordered Procomp M/T's despite a few negative reviews and they arrived today! As far as mudding is concerned, I go on a once a week basis probably. So in comparison to the time I spend on the road not that much.

Brand doesnt matter, I was just wanderin, didnt mean to offend ya. but you should be pleased with a pro comp, they clean out good and last awhile, Good choice. I spend 90% of my time off road too lol

yes brand completely matters... for instance, BFG A/ts have weak sidewalls, so they would be terrible for someone who does alot of rock crawling or dealing with sharp things like tree stumps. but theyre great for mud and street, and general off road use..
