Timing chain cover

Hey, all just wondering if it's alright to weld the groves in the cover made by the chain. Just removed the cover and found a very loose chain, destroyed guide, and a pretty good set of groves. I don't really want to order a new one if I don't need to.

50$ isnt bad but if your good at tig welding then i wouldnt be affraid to weld it. Just make sure you grind it to its original form when done.
