Suspension opinions needed

OK, my ride is a 98 4Runner 4x4 SR5. It's time to make this thing way more OFF-ROAD looking and capable. I am running the stock 265/70/16 tires right now. I have been reading BILLIONS of posts on here trying to decide what direction to go? I plan to do an aggressive A/T, or M/T tire. If a 265/75/16
M/T will fit under my stock suspension I will probably do that. Which leads to my question. Do I have to lift this thing to make it perform well off-road, and look tough? I've read about the problems with the REVTEK type lifts, and I really don't want to JACK UP my CV boots, etc., etc. I really don't want to spend tons of money right now to invest in an all new suspension setup such as springs/shocks, etc. So what do you guys suggest? I want to "MAN-UP" my runner, but don't necessarily have to lift it to accomplish this? I plan to do black wheels/herculiner bumpers, some type of sliders, roof cage rack, exhaust, the usual intake mods listed in these forums, etc., I just can't decide about the suspension. So I'm asking you guys for your opinions. I need tires, as mine are almost bald, and I just can't dedide on a size or type, let alone this whole possibility of a suspension lift? Please help a brotha out? Thanks and Peace!!

Those mods should man it up a bit with the ATs.

Go buy some 265/75 BFG A/Ts and skip the lift. It does not sound like you need it since a new "look" is what you want.
