spun bearing on new motor, any help on why?

spun bearing on new motor, any help on why?

i got a toyota celica mini stock with a 22r motor in it and we cant find out why the the # 1 rod bearing and #2 main cap after just 10 laps on motor, i finally got a new crank and new bearings in it this morning and when i got back from running it down the road, something started pinging under the hood any tips on why this would happen?

18 psi at idle n 40 psi at 3,000 rpm

What sort of bearing clearances did they set the motor to?

Were you getting any oil starvation on the corners? Check your camshaft for scoring on the journals and lobes.

i figured it out the machine shop forgot to put the oil plug that goes on the front of the motor right next to the chain tensioner, back in when they assembled the motor, their goes $1200 out the window. hey annoyingrob do know much bout getting more power out of a 22r with out doin to much to the motor?

The 22R benefits a lot from more air. Bigger cams, and mild head porting make a decent difference. Advance the timing up to 12ATDC or so helps too. If you want to get into the motor (assuming you have an early model 22R), a 20R head on top will flow more than the stock 22R head, and give you a higher compression ratio.
