Spark Plug Wiring on '04 Tacoma?

Hey Guys. I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any help. I have a 2004 Tacoma with a 5VZ-FE 6cyl. Went to replace the plugs and wires today. Afterward, the truck vibrated a lot, almost as if not firing on all cylinders. Furthermore I began the work before drawing out how the wires are run (stupid, I know. I'm pretty sure its correct though). I called a few shops and they said "aftermarket parts" such as these can sometimes make the engine run worse than factory Toyota stuff. I also researched a little and found out these engines require the "multi-ground" plugs. The NGK's I got at Autozone are not. I put the old plugs back in, with the new wires and same thing- runs like crap. So:

Would new wires somehow cause this?
Anyone know the correct wiring arrangement?
Should I be getting a check engine light? (I'm not)
What to do?

I know this was pretty retarded of me but any help is greatly appreciated anyway. Thanks.

-Max

if you have the factory wires they can go on pretty much one way.if not... go get factory wires and factory plugs!!!check boots for cracks.....yoter motors are finicky...

and why did you change the wires in the first place? They last a pretty long time..

Plug wires should be #1 coil goes to #4 plug, #3 coil goes to #6 plug and #5 coil goes to #2 plug. Passenger side is 1-3-5, from front to back and the driver side is 2-4-6. And next time you buy plugs that sticker that says "Dual electrode plugs only" isn't just put there for customers to practise thier reading skills, it's there for a good reason. Only use Denso K16TR11 or NGK BKR5EKB-11 plugs.

Thanks so much guys. I decided to do new plugs and wires as I just hit 100K. The wires are Bosch. I'll get factory stuff from the dealer today. Thanks again everyone!
