Should I buy this truck?

Should I buy this truck?
I am looking at a 94 with V6 auto trans and 4wd. It has 220,000 and is $4400. Is this worth it considering I want to get another 100,000 or more out of it? I am new to toyotas and want some educated opinions.

Not for $4400. Getting another 100,000 out of it depends on the condition of the engine drivetrain etc and if the common issues with that engine have been addressed. I have a 22r so am not familiar with teh v6 issues but I am sure someone else will post on here and mention them.

Personally I am not a big fan of the 3.0 V6 motors. I am also definately not a fan of the automatics. I think that is overpriced if the motor has never been rebuilt or at least the heads gone through. Another thing to consider is when the timing belt was last replaced, which is supposed to be done every 80,000 miles or so.
I definately do not see you getting another 100,000 miles out of that truck if nothing has ever been done to the motor. A friend of mine just had his 3.0 gone through by a local shop (thought the valves were bad) and it turned out the rods were slamming against the crank and it needed a new crank. $2600 later he has freshly rebuilt motor that will probably outlive the body and frame.
Just my $0.02, check and see what other guys think. I am much more impressed by the 22REs.

well with that v6 and a auto tranny it is gonne be really slow plus its not a very good v6 so no i would not buy it for 4400 bucks you can get somthing better, i would try to get one from 96 or newer they have a much better engine more powerful more reliable and better gas mialage. but 96 and newer ones are more expensive so if you dont have more cash i would go with one that as one of the 22re motors which are very reliable and get ok gas mialage but are underpowered. also depends on what you are using it for. are you going to be wheeling with it or using it as a daily driver if wheeling then go with a 1985 or older preferably with the 22re and also because it comes with the solid front axle. or if you are going to use it as a daily driver id go with the newer(96 and up) ones. i hope this answers some of your questions. and welcome to yotatech.

Where are you located? This sounds very steep for a truck that year and mileage. The 3.0 is also notorious for blowing head gaskets on the 6th cylinder. I would definitely expect this price to be negotiable. Also, check to see what kind of work has been done on the truck in the past. Many times, these trucks have lots of little problems that are not noticeable when you first buy them. In my opinion, I would look for one with the 22R-E and 5speed. These are much more reliable in general.

Stay away from this one. Someone is trying to ripping you off. Even if the body is perfect and everyhing is in decent running order, still no. Unless its a freshly rebuilt motor, you won't see 100k more miles out of it.

depending...
A lot depends on location...
Up here, Alberta canada.....the 89-95 series either forerunner or pickups...
go for anywhere btween 6-10,000.....they arent cheap....I paid 6 for mine...but it has headers, lift , tires winch etc. etc etc etc...but that seems to be an average price....
Mine is a V6..and i havent had any problems....just make sure you do the routine maintenance, and itll be a reliable motor....
mine is a 5 spd though...Ive heard the V6 / auto combo sucks back the fuel....
just my 2 cents
Cheers

It depends on where and what you got.
Here in PA if that was a rust free extra-cab SR5, I'm quite sure that $4400 wouldn't even be the take home price and if it was it would be the first guy that got there with cash in hand and your phone would be blowing up for a week at least!
