Exclamation Should i buy??

Hey guys, im thinking about buying a 94' yota 4cy 5 speed with 145,000 miles on it. Im a little hesitant because of the high milegae but everyone tells me they run forever and are cheap to fix. Im looking to buy either a yota or a lifted jeep cherokee/grand cherokee. The yota is $4800 obo.

Buy the Toyota!! The 22re is one of the best engines ever made. At 145,000 it's just now getting "broke in". Welcome to YT.

Oh and it says it has a new timing belt and water pump, would there be anything in particular i should be looking out for because of the new timing belt. And what exactly does a timing belt do? I've never really known and i feel stupid for asking.

Well if he said timing belt he's giving you crap. The 22re had a timing chain. It runs and operates the valve train, which allows fuel into and exhaust out of the cylinders. It is important to replace every now and then, and there is really no danger in a new chain. I say go for it.

Well, $4800 is a little high for that truck.....but see what he'll take, and get it.

check the service records. take it to a mechanic to inspect leaks esp around the HG. it may have been overheated so ask him, if he says yes he overheated it then walk away. overheating is certain death in most yotas as far as Head gaskets concerned. ask a lot of questions and drive it. try the 4x4 out etc etc.. 4800 isnt too bad as long as he has proof of services done to the truck. just 2 cents from me

Just as a price reference...

I paid $4200 for my 94 with 178K miles. It was a very well cared for truck inside and out. Doesn't look like it had ever been wheeled. I live in Washington though, Toyota's around here seem to command a higher price.
