Short block condition 22r
Hey guys, new here, looking forward to learning some things. Here is my question. I just purchased a used long block 22r. The guy I bought it from claimed that it was a long block crate motor from Toyota. As they don't provide a full long block from what I have been told I questioned his honesty. Got it for 200 bucks so felt ok.
I did a leak down, all four showing 45% plus. Leakage coming from exhaust valves on all four. No compression test done as motor was on a stand and I have no way of cranking it.
Now to the question. I am planning on a new performance head from engbldr, with the crawler 261 c. The cylinder bores check out perfectly, the mains and rods are barely discolored, and perfectly smooth. The journals are like a mirror and everything is to spec. It appears that this bottom end is very low mileage. While I have it apart, should I hone and re-ring, just hone and not re-ring, replace all bearings, or just leave it alone and put the new head on. Thanks for any and all advise.
