Removing Welded Sliders - Looking for Best Approach

I've searched and came up nothing...

I have welded sliders on my rig and wanting to remove them so I can relocate.

I am seeking advice how to best remove the weld. They are welded on a scab plate with 1 rectangular gussett. I was thinking I can use a SAWZALL to cut the pipe close to the plate. But this will leave the plate and a bit of the pipe. However, I was wondering if I can cut the WELDS around the plate using DREMEL but I am afraid that I might cut into the frame.

Any advice on the best approach to this task? Much appreciated.......

a plasma cutter, or torch if you are very good. also a angle grinder with a cutting wheel would do the trick

If you were in socal i could plasma them off for you. Even plasma would be sketchy, it cuts so easily it'd be easy to slip into your frame. Maybe grind as much of the weld off around the scab plate as possible. I think you'll go through dremel disks wayy to fast.

Carbon Arc, but I would probably just cut the pipe as close to the plate as possible and leave the weld, too much risk to the frame.

zip grind the welds maybe one of your better options.

If you have them mounted to a frame plate cut the tube there with a sawzall and leave the frame mount on the frame , get a new set of plates if you are going to reuse the sliders and reweld them to the plates and then it is like starting with a new set

It would be best to leave the plates. Remove the sliders as close the to plate as possible and then grind whats left off to make the plate smooth.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
Plasma = Cold cut...

Not that losing THAT much temper will hurt the frame, but it'll leave more temper in the frame than any other method of cutting them off will...

A friend of mine had some shop fly at 4Wheel parts here in Nashville put some generic ones on, and the moron welded them to the lower control arm mount of a 80 series Landcruiser. It has to come off b/c the exhaust pipe hits it and crushed it...

Using plasma will not weaken the mount anymore, or damage the bushing any more than it already is.
