On the top of my rear third member (1995 Toy 4runner 3.0 v6) there is a small metal piece that appears to go into the housing. This piece is about 1.5" long and 1" wide. There is a set of wires coming from it that lead to an unknown location (haven't chased it yet). Does anyone know what this is. I can post a link to pics tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

 

I think that is an abs sensor or something like that.

Just a guess.

Im pretty sure it is the ABS sensor.
