Well going through the new 4Runner. Noticing some missing vacuum lines. So i did some searching found this post over on pirate4x4: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=579557

Was quite helpful...except I don't see whats on my engine...

First one looks like similar to a VSV but has an extra port...


The 2 connected to that one, go here currently:



I know I'm missing the VTV from here:


Should I just cap it for now until I can snag a VTV or?

need to run out and see if I can make sense where it should go...

The rig is an 86 5spd

 

The fourth picture down looks like the fuel presure regulator, there should be a vacuum hose from the upper intake that conects to it. There is normally a vacuum switching valve hooked inline from the intake to the fuel presure regulator, but its not needed. I have my fuel presure hooked up right to the upper intake manifold.

 

Easiest thing to do is find someone with similar motor and side by side compare with them. I went up to Truckfiend's place this week to do the same thing. He had a couple things different then mine, but Deathcougar over at Nix99 and his infinite knowledge told us it was the difference between A/C and no A/C, and had the right parts to steer us in the right direction. We still had to run a couple of lines and reroute others.

 

Its hard to tell from your picture, but in the fifth picture, the vsv thats capped off, that looks like were the fuel presure regulator should be hooked up to. Like i said before, you can remove this vsv and hook the fuel presure regulator straight to were the vsv is conected on the intake, but if you want it hooked up the way it was stock then just remove the cap and run a vacuum hose to the regulator.

 

Ok so I hooked up the FPR in pic 4 to the capped port on the VSV in pic 5. Now I just have the one open port on pic 1, which I've capped for the moment and then I just need to get the VTV for pic 3? Should I cap this for the time being or let it flow?

 

Picture three doesn`t hook up to anything, it normally has a short piece of hose conected to it with a check valve on the end of it just hanging loose, but it won`t hurt anything with nothing being there as it is now.

 

yep got it all figured out runs a wee bit smoother now...it ran smooth in the first place but just runs smoother now

In picture one the vacuum hoses are hooked up wrong, the vacuum hose at the top by the electrical plug is in the wrong place, it needs to be moved to the bottom vacuum port next to the other vacuum hose, the vacuum port at the top is actually a vent and is left open.
