NEWBIE 22RE Exhaust Diameter?

I got inspected!

I need a new muffler and tail pipe on my 1987 4runner with 22re.

I decided to replace everything.

Started out by buying myself a thorley header.

I plan to get a fake straight through cat like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tchlink:top:en

"This is a special section of straight pipe with a housing that looks exactly like a catalytic converter"

Now, I need to know the diameter of the pipe I should use for the rest of the system!

2" or 2 1/4"

Please let me know what you think!!

2-1/4'' is a good choice

Not sure about Canada, but in the States if you get caught with a fake cat it's a huge fine. You can get a generic cat for about $60 USD if you look around.

I think it is a FEDERAL case, and a problem, not sure how enforced the laws are, but talking about it would be something I wouldn't do too much of.

2" seems to be the most common:dunno

In addition to inspection (visual) don't you also have actual emissions tests, which you may fail without a cat?

Also, the "test pipe" you showed on eBay has no flange, so you need to get it welded.

So two guys for 2" and two guys for 2 1/4" LOL... any one else?

And as for the inspection, its visual only, we dont have emmissions testing here.

Edited:

Oh and I'm looking at a Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler...
