newb question here
hey guys, i am new to this forum. I recently purchased a 1983 sr5. it is mostly stock with a doug thorley header and a couple of other mods. My question is what is a descent front leaf pack at a descent price that will lift the front of my truck 4 inches. its currently has 33x 12.50 tires and looks goofy with the stock suspension. i dont need the best and also dont want the worst. any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thank you

I label aftermarket lifts kits as worst vs. best no middle IMO
Skyjacker seems decent but for a few more bucks you can get a trail gear setup.
If you do your homework and have skills do some research you will find for little money and a lot of wrecking yard hunting you can put together a lift kit on the cheap with the perforamce as good or even better than the best aftermarket kits.
look for rears up front, chevy springs, & waggy springs.

Here is a good cheap lift shown with 33's (I'm running what plumbrbob was just telling you about)

I spent about $200 on the lift. Here's how its set up:
Rear-
-Stock springs off an 89 Chev Silverado 1500 (any half ton springs from that body style chev will do just fine)
-Downey Spring Shackles
-Rancho 5000 shocks (they travel from 16" to 26")
Front-
-Factory Toyota rear spring packs with Add-A-Leafs
-Downey spring shackles
-Rancho 5000 shocks
If you go to a junkyard you want to buy
-Shocks of your choice (if you can find aftemarkets that fit otherwise just buy them new)
-Rear springs from a Chev half ton (take the u-bolts from the chev)
Then call up Trail Gear or Marlincrawler and order some spring hangers and shackles (DONT GET SHACKLES WITH THE WELDED BRIDGE SUPPORT!)
Then you bolt it all up you will need to extend your front driveshaft or build a square one and get a drop drag link like this one.

Welcome to YT. I moved your thread to Newbie Tech. I googled 1983 lift kit and the first six hits were all different options to lift your truck 3.5-4". The options for springs packs are limitless. The search feature of this forum is also a very powerful tool. Questions like "What is the best lift for my truck" are highly controversial here. You'll likely get many different opinions from people. You will be much better off to SEARCH, read, research your options, educate yourself, then ask specific questions.
