Not sure on the wheel well size. But yes you definatly do not get as much up travel.

If he is trying to make a show truck, then stick with being super tall. But if its going to see any trail use. That thing would flop when it hit a gravel road. lol

Yeah i guess its all what the op wants. But i have to say, i have always hated mall crawlers and after almost flopping my stock 4runner, i dont know how anyone could be running 6+ inches of lift. I would be worried about rolling all the time.

i've never almost flopped my 4runner, and it's got a bracket lift.

2door, you need to stop doing the things that almost flop your runner....since it's "Rare..."

i've seen a chevy on 42's that had 14" of lift take corners faster than my 4runner ever thought about.

yes people that go wheelin a lot do like to keep their rig low (or rather their COG) but someone who doesn't wheel as often might not give a crap?

i say lets let the OP chime in with what he wants outta the rig

Theres a difference between low, and stuffing big tires on stock suspension.

"Low" ttrucks with big tires have much larger flex arcs than stock rigs with big tires..
Gotta remember that.
That white truck you posted up looks like stock springs, stock shocks.. = really crappy flex..

not stock.

why fight about the what the OP wants to do with his truck? its his, he makes it how he wants it. if he was gonna wheel it hard then he would most likely have some knowledge and wouldnt be asking us about this or even bought a truck like that.

Sorry to say but your truck needs a lot of work to fix what someone thought was the way to do it right. I hope you got a good deal because it is gonna take $$ to fix it.

This is one reason why sometimes I just like doing things myself. The extra time it takes to do the proper research and ask questions like you are doing are worth alot. Sometimes it don't seem like it, but in the long run you win.

I am sure what you got might work somewhat well if the truck was just used once a month or something like that and only off-road. But like you said the road manner suck and I am sure the reliability of it is just as bad for a daily driver.

The previous owner probably had more money in his pocket then he knew what to do with and didn't care how reliable something was and didn't care if he had to fix something if it broke as well as did not drive it everyday so did not care how well it road on the street.

Keep in mind however any truck on 38's or bigger is definitely not gonna ride like a Caddy or BMW on the street no matter how right the suspension was done.

For example a proper setup for something like a desert race truck will ride like crap on the street and probably is not even safe to drive on the street. Same thing can go for a competition rock buggy. When setup for rock racing, it will ride like junk on the street as well. Even though it is 100% "right".

Someone's "right" is most of the time not someone elses "right". Look at nascar or any other race circuit. Not 1 vehicle is ever setup the same. Whether it be the shock valving, the caster/camber of the alignment etc etc. Everything is setup for a specific driving style and the drivers feel.

What some people forget on here is that there is some basics that you should follow suspension wise like how those front springs are mounted for example, but height of the truck, how many shocks to run and which angle to put them on, what size arch and spring lengths should be are all personal preference based on what the truck is gonna be used for and how it is gonna be driven and what you feel is comfortable and what is not.

He wanted a softer ride..
Springs that look like a "U" aren't going to be soft by any means..
NOT ONLY THAT..
But his front spring "hanger" is extremely ghetto.
And the fact that somebody put his shackles in the front will make his truck drive extremely weird, and have poor suspension characteristics..

man, u guys are great, learned a lot, thank u. i have stock 4 runner, i jack up and put 33's, 5" sus, and 3" body, if i go high, will definitely go wide
