need some help with 90 4runner rear door

so just got my 4runner a few weeks ago, its crazy fun. second day i got it some *%# hole rear ended me and put a nice crinkle in my rear door. the glass was up so is still good but cant slide down at all. i need to know if theres a way to unlock the door and remove it when the glass is up. wanna do it myself and save some money. any suggestions?

No, the window has to be down at least a little since it slides up into the upper window frame channel on the body.

You can start by taking the inner panel off, as well as the inner access panel, then disconnecting the latch cables and manually opening the door. If you get the window to go down a little, it will open up.

My 90 Runner tailgate wont unlock unless the glass is 100 percent lowered.

Of course the *stock* system won't allow the gate to be opened until the window is all the way down. They idiot proof the stupid thing. But there are ways around the built in safeties.

thanks for everyones feedback. i got it today. it was really simple to figure out once i was in there. the bitch was trying to wedge the dent far enough out so my window would slide down far enough to be out of the frame. but yeah anyhoo, now just gotta put the other tailgate back in...
